Wherever I see an opportunity to bring data, that sits in darkness, to light (especially when it's attached to a hobby of mine) I do my best to collect it, tranform/standardise it and make it easily accessible to everyone.
Take coffeeshops as an example. I'm huge fan of Coffee Shops - the buzz of people, the community, the collectiveness. Sometimes when working remotely, I might need a change of environment so I'd go to a coffee shop. But when I do so, I'd need good WiFi, access to plugs to keep charged if I plan to spend a few hours, etc. Emperical data like this didn't exist in an easiliy accessible way, so I set out on a journey to not just centralise this data for for several coffee shops worldwide (also creating a useful metric) also to allow others to contribute to the data collection and presentation so this projet may live on since I, sadly, can't visit every coffee shop in the world.
